Sound identified by its physical characteristics (principally reduced volume and increased reverb in interior situations, reduced volume and reduced treble in exterior situations) as it might be heard from a character within the film.
Characteristics:
- Regularly used to join spaces whose relationship cannot be easily presented by an establishing shot
- Promote identification between the audience and the selected character
- Usually employed like a sound advance, de-acousmatisation
