Superimposition

Layers of sound added to the general soundtrack; often to represent internal subjective sounds.

Characteristics:

  • Provides more information on context
  • The narrative information of the signals will always be more important than their spatial signature with that effect
  • Backtracking is called in the viewer to situate the sonic events in the narrative
  • The level of audio information can weaken the intelligibility

Related effects: Internal sounds
Make obsolete: Spatial signature
