Visual superimposition

One image, and sometimes more than one, placed over another to yield a double or multiple exposure.

Characteristics:

  • Augment the sense of movement and enhance the feeling of rapidity
  • Suggest disorientation and/or confusion
  • Sound can underline or minimise these effects
  • Spatial orientation tends to be unclear
